Put your course notes online

If you place content online via the School server or via your PC on the School/UNSW network, please make sure that the content complies with the various UNSW website policies - in particular the "Acceptable Content Standard" policy, which can be downloaded from http://www.its.unsw.edu.au/policies/docs/Acceptable_Content_Std.pdf

Please note, you are personally responsible for the site content

There are 2 means whereby you can put course notes online:

    Via the School server: http://subjects.ee.unsw.edu.au/

    Via the UNSW WebCT system: http://www.webctsupport.unsw.edu.au/enter.html

Advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages
Disadvantages
As long as you can code for html, you can publish notes without having to learn new software
All students, include those not enrolled in your course, may view your lecture notes.
It can be set as accessible within the UNSW domain or not

You are not allowed to put a list of assignment marks with student numbers on the web for them to view.

Just email Ming Sheng to give you server space, login name and password for your course
If you require a more dynamic interactive learning environment on web, you need to web building skills to create it yourself.

 

Via UNSW WebCT system

Disadvantages
It has built in facilities for you to use the chat room, quiz building etc..
You have to go through the registration process
Only those students who are currently enrolled in your course can view the notes by logging in.
It takes time to learn WebCT software, even though you can use html.
Students can view their own assignment/lab marks on WebCT
 
You can build a dynamic web learning environment with this software.
