Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why haven't I received my payslip via internal mail?

Answered: Generally, the salaries office would send out a hardcopy of payslip to employee's postal address. However, there seems to be a trend that employees are encouraged to print out their own payslips from the web by logging in your employee ID plus a "s" at the front (e.g. s1234567) and your unipass. Then, click on the left hand side menu on one of the buttons stated "For Employees", and from there you can print out your own payslip.

2. How should I know whether I can claim for the work I have done or not?

Answered: If you have been allocated officially, your name and hours of working  per week should be on my list. You should have received a formal letter about the hours allocated to you at the beginning of the session. Then you should be able to claim for the hours you have done within the allocation. Anything other than that, you should check with Dr. Ambi or me first.

3. How come a large amount of tax has been deducted from my last payment?

Answered: You may be under one of the following situations:
    a. You haven't submitted your Tax File Number to the Salaries Office yet.
    b. You didn't put in your claim form regularly (every fortnight) that if your claim for the   hours that you have done cover more than 2 weeks. You may have chance to incur   higher tax deduction.

4. What is RCD# in the claim form? How should I fill in it?

Answered: On the top of your payslip, there is a RCD number . You need to fill in the claim form. If you have got more than one job in UNSW, you would have more than one payslip with more than one RCD number. Please fill in the one which is related to your casual academic employment.

5. Is there any difference between employee's number and student's number?

Answered: Some people have got the same number while others haven't. Please fill     in whatever you have got in the claim form.

6. I have changed my postal address recently. What should I do?

Answered: You should download the Change of Name/Address Form and submit it     to me together with your claim form.

7. I have changed my payment bank account recently. What should I do?

Answered: You should download the Salaries Deposite Detail Form and submit it to me together with your claim form.
